On March 2, 2016 a space craft landed in Kazakhstan. The spacecraft carried American astronaut, Scott Kelly, and Russian cosmonaut, Mikhail Kornienko who returned home from a 340 day mission on the International Space Station. Throughout their time in space, the two astronauts orbited earth 5,440 times, travelling more than 143,840,000 miles in space. This allowed them to see over 10,900 sunrises and sunsets. Additionally, Kelly conducted three spacewalks while Kornienko participated in one. The two astronauts also performed a lot of experiments to learn about how the human mind and body is effected by spaceflight. Since the mission has ended, Scott Kelly has retired and has been enjoying spending time with his family along with the other things he wasn't able to have in space. However he will still have to undergo extensive testing on how space has physically effected him. After the testing scientists will be able to compare test result to his identical twin brother since they have identical DNA.

As technology is advancing computers are becoming smarter. Despite them lacking creativity and intuition, Google's Alpha Go computer algorithm beat the 18 time world champion Lee Sedol at the ancient Chinese game called Go, winning four out of the five rounds played. The 3000 year old game is still very popular in Asia and due to the 19x19 grid there are more ways the board can be ordered than atoms in the universe. This victory stunned everyone including Google's DeepMind team that developed the programme. While experts all around the world are impressed with the algorithm's quick thinking powers, they have displayed mix feelings about it. Some view the technological advancement as dangerous and others believe that there is nothing to worry about. The thought of computers overtaking humans someday is a frightening thought.

Dr. Harry Witchel has discovered how to programme a computer to detect the boredom of users. It keeps track of the constant involuntary movements people make when in front of a computer or even a television. Witchel says that the more absorbed and interested that the person is the less movement they will make. To test the theory Witchel and his team invited 27 people and exposed them to a range of digital content for three minutes at a time. A video tracker monitored their movements and as expected by the researchers, the involuntary actions reduced drastically when they were actually interested in the content. The scientists wish to use this new technology to gauge the student's interest level and adjust the material to make their learning experience better.

Around two million people a year end up in emergency rooms with concussions. Although an even larger amount of concussions go unnoticed because they don't experience the classic symptoms of a concussion. This can lead to long-term health issues like chronic headaches, memory loss and depression. However, this may change due to a simple blood test created by Dr. Linda Papa. Doctors may now be able to accurately diagnose concussions for up to seven days after the patient has sustained an injury. To verify the accuracy of the test, the team conducted several blood tests on over 600 patients, 18 and older. When they compared the test results with the patient's CT scans, they found that the blood test was able to accurately identify mild to moderate concussions 97% of the time.
