I LOVE THIS SERIES SOOO MUCH. Please read it! No words to describe it, even "amazing" isn't enough. Also, before you read my review, there are spoilers ahead, and you won't understand this review unless you've read books 1 and 2. In this book, Sophie Foster's abilities have been healed. She can now heal broken minds. She's been hoping that the rulers of the Lost Cities, the Council, will ask her to heal Prentice's mind, but she is shocked when the Council asks her to heal the mind of Fintan, a pyrokinetic - and a murderer. She and a (cute) boy named Fitz try to heal his mind. They think it's not working, but then they realize that Fintan was just hiding his consciousness so he could secretly spark Everblaze - a ruthless fire that destroys everything in its path. Sophie rushes to make the only known extinguisher, but Councillor Kenric, Sophie's loyal supporter, was lost to the flames. One day at Foxfire, Sophie's school, her best friend Dex presents her with a circlet that is supposed to enhance her abilities, but it seems to do otherwise, so she gives is back to Dex. At Kenric's planting in the Wanderling Woods, the ogre King Dimitar shows up, and Sophie tries to read his mind. She's had many suspicions about the ogres, and since Sophie's a telepath, she has the opportunity to make Some discoveries - sort of. Despite how sneaky she was, Dimitar caught her poking around his mind and almost brings her to his work camps until Lady Cadence, who lived with the ogres for years, talks him out of it. Even so, the Council forces Sophie to wear the terrible circlet! It not only restricts her telepathy, but (WARNING, MAJOR SPOILERS FROM PREVIOUS BOOKS AHEAD) even restricts her polyglot, inflictor, and teleporting abilities. And what will she do, when she discovers that her friends are about to be ambushed? In this suspenseful third book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series, Sophie must deal with change and risk her life for the people she loves most. Here is the series in order: #1: Keeper of the Lost Cities (or KEEPER for short), #2: Exile, #3: Everblaze, #4: Neverseen, #5: Lodestar, 6: Nightfall, #7: Flashback, #8: Legacy, #8.5: Unlocked. And for those Keeper fans who've finished the series, Shannon has named book 9 Stellarlune! The cover has also been revealed YAYYYYY! Have a great day, and enjoy the series!

In this book, Karen Hesse rolls perfect poetry and a young girl's determination to survive into one spectacular story. Billie Jo and her family live on a farm in Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl (if you don't know what that is, it was a series of dust storms and a drought that struck in, I think it was the Southwest, between 1930-1936). Things are already tough for them, but they only get harder with Ma's baby coming and an accidental house fire. Can Billie Jo and Daddy survive, when they have already lost so much? I hardly knew about the Dust Bowl before I read this book. I learned so much! Please read it.

I love this book. It's so good! WARNING: the characters are not very good role models, such as Bethany doing things behind her mom's back, and being mean to Owen and not doing the right thing, just because Owen would do it (she finds Owen very stupid and annoying). And there is a lot of lying, and Owen hides the truth from Bethany and carries out a plan, even when Bethany tells him how DANGEROUS it can be! He should have listened to her, even though she is a hot-head. And there is some surgery, which might make some readers feel uncomfortable. Just a heads-up to let you know. I recommend it for ages 8+, or maybe 7+. And if you like this book, then you will like KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES. Read both books. Owen is just a normal kid who lives in the normal world. But that's the problem--life is so boring when you live in the real world and not star as the hero in your very own book series (boring except for reading the Kiel Gnomenfoot magic quest series. NOT BORING AT ALL!). His everyday life is so boring until he sees Bethany climb out of a book in the library where his mother works. It takes some convincing, but Bethany finally tells Owen that she's half-fictional (if that's confusing, her mother is a normal person like Owen, and her father is a fictional character who found his way out of his books and married Bethany's mom) and that she's searching for her 100% fictional father, who went missing when she accidentally jumped herself, her friends, and him into a book at her fourth birthday party. She jumped herself and her friends out, but she has not seen her father since she left him in the book. Owen has just the thing to help her find her dad (or knows OF it). It's a spell in the Kiel Gnomenfoot books--a location spell. But Owen isn't really going into the book to get Bethany access to a spell. He wants to save the Magister, Kiel's magic teacher who is about to be killed by the evil Mad Scientist, Dr. Verity. Owen just can't let that happen, so he changes the plot--with some very mixed results! Owen is where Kiel should be, Kiel is where Owen should be, and the girls are facing some serious situations with the annoying boys (if you're wondering, Bethany and Kiel are facing the Magister, and Owen, who is disguised as Kiel in the last book, is teaming up with Charm, the lovable half-robotic girl. They both face impossible challenges, both in the fictional and nonfictional world, and face difficult choices. I think you will like this awesome book.

goodbookgirl's book review was featured in Exile (Keeper of the Lost Cities).
This book is neither better than the first book nor worse. They are both amazing works of art. Sophie Foster has a lot on her shoulders. First, she has to train Silveny, the stubborn alicorn that she recently brought back to Grady and Edaline's animal rescue estate, second, her friend Fitz's father, Alden, wants her to go to Exile with him, third, she's starting a new year at school--with one session in one of the elite towers with Councillor Bronte, who is mean to her, fourth, she has to perform some dumb dance at school, fifth, she is recovering memories that have been long lost to her, sixth, Grady, her adoptive dad thinks that the mysterious Black Swan group murdered his flesh-and-blood daughter, Jolie, seventh, the mean councillor Bronte thinks she's "malfunctioning", eighth, she has to train shy Silveny to fly to the sanctuary around other elves (who Silveny is terrified of), ninth, her brain isn't as strong as it was before she almost faded (which keeps happening time and time again), and tenth, she's been receiving surprising and confusing messages from the mysterious Black Swan group, who supposedly saved her from kidnappers. What is up? In this spectacular second book in the KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES series, Sophie must face her fears and open up in ways she never thought possible before, before Alden, who lost his mind (literally) is lost forever. The books go in this order: KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES, EXILE, EVERBLAZE, NEVERSEEN, LODESTAR, NIGHTFALL, FLASHBACK, LEGACY, UNLOCKED 8.5. Please read this series! I can't wait to read book #3. Five stars for sure.

I love this book, but it has some mild content that might make you sad (especially if you're an animal lover). Maryellen Larkin and her mother are dreaming up jingles for companies like Schwinn and Jell-O. However, they just can't win. Then Scooter, the family dachshund disappears. Maryellen and her family (Beverly, Carolyn, Mom, Dad, Tom, and Mikey) and friends (Karen Stohlman, Karen King, Angela, Davy, and Wayne the Pain) look around for him--and discover that Scooter isn't the only dog who disappeared. They discover that Bark Haven, a dog rescue center, may be helping to steal dogs. And there's the ice cream man, Mr. Brad, who is also a suspect. The missing dogs couldn't have just vanished into thin air. No. The possibility is more terrifying than Maryellen thought it could be. What if Scooter and the other dogs didn't run away? What if...they were stolen?
