The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants, and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.
When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.
Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

ave you ever thought that much about Norse mythology? Maybe you know who Loki or Thor is, but did you know about the 9 worlds or Fernris Wolf? I bet you never knew! Magnus Chase is a homeless boy living on the streets of Boston! One day, he finds out that he is actually the son of a Norse God! Soon after, he is attacked by a fire giant and dies. So he goes to the Norse afterlife, Valhalla. At Valhalla, all he does is prepare for Ragnarok, when the giants will fight against the gods in an enormous battle. The only problem is, he also finds out that the fire giants are planning on using a special sword, the sword of summer, to free Fenris Wold so that he can start Ragnarok. Magnus has to do something! But what will he do? How will he do it? This book was very funny and entertaining to read, and I learned stuff about Norse mythology!
i love Rick Riordan books this one is my FAVORITE series EVER.
I won this book at the library because I took part in a summer reading program, and I have read it multiple times and it just never gets old! There are funny moments and shocking moments and it's like going on an adventure with Magnus! One of my favorite parts of the book was when Hearth accidentally hit Magnus on the butt with his rubber arrow (the reaction was super funny)! I also like that this book was in Magnus's perspective. I think that Rick Riordan did a wonderful job writing this book, he incorporated everything you crave from a book (at least for me). I definitely recommend this book and I hope you will love and enjoy Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard book 1!! Happy reading!!!!
I love mythology. I have read all the Percy Jackson books and the heroes of Olympus books. I love them all. I wanted something different to read. This Book is all about the Norse Mythology which I knew nothing about. I recommend this book because It is very funny and enjoyable.
Awesome story! Awesome!!!!!!!
I love the entire series, it definetly competes up there with the best series Rick Riordan has written. The characters and story is compelling and makes you want to continue reading
This book is awesome! It's about Norse mythology. Magnus Chase, a homeless boy, is killed in a battle with a giant and goes to Valhalla, where he sets out on a quest! It is written by the author of Percy Jackson, so if you like that series I highly suggest you read this one. You'll absolutely love it!
This is a great book, though not my favorite. But I love the quirky characters and the mythology is really interesting. Would recommend to mythology lovers.
I didn't read this book, but I know this will be great as the other series of Mr. Riordan's books! But I have a feeling at Magnus's last name. Chase. In Percy Jackson, there is Percy Jackson's girlfriend, Annabeth CHASE. Maybe Magnus is like a step-brother to Annabeth since their last name is similar. BUT they have different mother's so, nah.
Oh, but they ARE related.
He's right, but they barely know each other. Still, related. And because of that, in book 3, PERCY JACKSON AND MAGNUS CHASE CROSSOVER!!!!!!!(for a few chapters) In addition, in book 3, (or is it 2? Can't remember) REFERENCE TO TRIALS OF APOLLO!!!!!!!(Read Trials of Apollo book 3 and Heros of Olympus). Sorry. I just like it when crossovers happen. ;) .
