Seconds before the Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is plucked off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher for the revised edition of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy who, for the last fifteen years, has been posing as an out-of-work actor.
Together this dynamic pair begin a journey through space aided by quotes from The Hitchhiker’s Guide (“A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have”) and a galaxy-full of fellow travelers: Zaphod Beeblebrox—the two-headed, three-armed ex-hippie and totally out-to-lunch president of the galaxy; Trillian, Zaphod’s girlfriend (formally Tricia McMillan), whom Arthur tried to pick up at a cocktail party once upon a time zone; Marvin, a paranoid, brilliant, and chronically depressed robot; Veet Voojagig, a former graduate student who is obsessed with the disappearance of all the ballpoint pens he bought over the years.
Where are these pens? Why are we born? Why do we die? Why do we spend so much time between wearing digital watches? For all the answers stick your thumb to the stars. And don't forget to bring a towel!

Yeah pretty interesting
Absolute classic. Ever since I heard about it, I knew this is what I wanted to read. And it made me like it a lot. Arthur Dent meets Ford, and they escape from the Earth being destroyed, and they land on the Heart of Gold and they just do random stuff. It's a fun book, must read. It isn't exactly a hard book or anything, but you should read it because of the humor. In this book you'll read it, learn about some random probability math stuff, then say, "Welp, that was good, thanks for all the fish!" Apparently there's more books, which I have to get! In all, yea its good.
This book is great. It's "about" Arthur Dent and the Earth being obliterated, but it has little to no plot. Douglas Adams goes on tons of wild and wonderful tangents. Also, the meaning of life is 42. The book is utter nonsense, and I love it.
I really enjoyed this book. It was different from all the other books I have read before.
This book is about Arthur Dent, a man who's house is being destroyed to make way for a bypass. At about the same time the vogons, (aliens) are about to destroy Earth to make way for another bypass. Ford Prefect is Arthur's best friend who also happens do be an alien. They hitch a ride on the vogon ship and are thrown into space where against all improbabilities they are picked up by the Heart of Gold spaceship which is piloted by Zaphod Beeblebrox, president of the galaxy. Along with him is Trillian a human like Arthur. Together they go on a hilarious adventure across space. I absolutely love this book. It can be a little confusing but mainly it's easy to understand. There's great humor. I went on to read the rest of the series and am on book 3 and also watched the movie.
it's okay. it has a nice premise, but is a little confusing. The characters have odd names, and sometimes there will be a random paragraph about weird math concepts, but overall it's pretty good. I have to read it for school, but I probably would not have picked it out on my own.
