Pretty good book, I had to read it for summer reading and it's just depressing until the real adventure begins.

I mean...It has the potential to be a good book, it has a good storyline, it's just the characters and the way it's executed...its meh. I wouldn't read the other books unless I had to.
I had... rather mixed opinions on the City of Ember. One one hand, I felt as though the concept was stunning. A dystopian city on the brink of being enveloped in eternal darkness? Yes please! But, on the other hand, this concept simply was not executed well. It felt as though most scenarios were only there for plot relevance- for instance, the food in the cellars would have to be over 200 years old- there's no way nothing went bad. Lina and Doon were Mary Sues, and almost everything worked out in their favor. This probably could've been one of my favorite books, if it had just been executed better.
City of Ember was built for the last refugees for the human race. The sky is always dark, there is almost no light beyond the light. There are secrets everywhere, as there are always shortages almost everywhere. There are always constant power outages, as the city is 200 years old. And people are afraid that the power will go out, and never come back. Will they find a city outside of ember? Will they escape the darkness? Read the City of Ember city to find out...
The City of Ember was a very delightful read and I loved the puzzles and plot twists at every corner. I have personally read this book multiple times and every time it got more fun and interesting. I highly recommend it to anybody who has extra time on their hands.
