Brian's Hunt (A Hatchet Adventure)

Brian's Hunt (A Hatchet Adventure)

By Gary Paulsen

The book Brian's Hunt by Gary Paulsen is a wonderful read if you enjoy nature, exploring, and hunting. It is about this man named Brian and he was in a plane crash so he had to hunt for food so he would not starve to death. And he had to hunt really big animals so he would have a lot of food to use and not have to go hunting all the time. Another thing if you go hunting a lot some places in this book kinda tell you some hunting tips. Also if you like to build some stuff you would probably like it. Another thing is if you like to use a bow you should definitely read this book. Another main idea is he built a bow made out of wood. So if you like some of those things I would recommend this book for you to read.

Warriors: The Broken Code #1: Lost Stars

Warriors: The Broken Code #1: Lost Stars

By Erin Hunter

SO, some felines are doing stuff in this book of Warriors. It is number 1 in The Broken Code arc and tells the tale of three cats, Shadowpaw, Rootpaw, and Bristlepaw(later Bristlefrost). Rootpaw, in Skyclan, tries to be a "normal" warrior, meaning one that likes to FIGHT and kill innocent life forms to eat. He struggles with having Tree, a cat who is not a normal warrior as a father. Shadowpaw, in Shadowclan, receives mysterious visions. But other clans do not take him seriously. They say," AAAAAH. EEET is an evil plot to kill everyone! Oh no." And Bristlepaw, in Thunderclan, watches as something strange happens to her Clan's leader, Bramblestar. Well, the book is about how the Moonpool(that's how medicine cats get guided by Starclan, which is a bunch of dead warriors living in the sky) gets frozen, so no one can reach StarClan. Except maybe Shadowpaw, but as mentioned before, everyone says, "AAAAAAHHH. EEEET is an evil plot to kill everyone! Oh no." The visions tell of misbehaving kitties who are breaking the Warrior Code, and how everyone is DOOMED if something isn't done quickly. But what do those visions mean? Hmmm. I did not like this one very much because it had too little action. You will enjoy it if you like reading books about cats.

Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star

Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star

By Brandon Mull

Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star has just become the best book I have ever read! It starts off from the first book, when Kendra and Seth find themselves back at Fablehaven after some trouble in their world. At Fablehaven, three new people have been employed. However, a betrayal strikes and Fablehaven is in chaos again. My notes- if you liked the first book, this is one hundred times better! It is filled with suspense, action, mystery (lots and lots), and awesomely surprising surprises! In the second volume of an amazing series, nothing is as it seems! I couldn't put it down- I've read a lot of books but this has seriously awed me. My suggestion when reading this? No matter what, don't skip around, because you might see something that would ruin it for you.

Two Peas in a Pod (Whatever After #11)

Two Peas in a Pod (Whatever After #11)

By Sarah Mlynowski

Stung and hurt because she wasn't voted as carnival leader, Abby storms back home with cumulonimbus clouds in her thoughts and actions. So it's a mild reprieve when she jumps into the mirror with her brother Jonah and lands in the Princess and the Pea fairytale...kind of. This time, Abby is determined not to mess anything up. But when she's too afraid to sleep atop the hundred mattresses given to her, everyone thinks she couldn't sleep because she sensed the pea under the mattresses, and suddenly Abby's dubbed a princess! After a while, Abby starts warming up to the princess treatment - who can argue when you have people waiting on you hand and foot, after all? - but knows she must find a real princess, someone who is truly good deep inside. And so, the princess games are on! But after venturing to the dark side of the moon and back with these games, and also having to fend off a snooty prince (all in a day's work!), Abby realizes that genuine leadership means stepping aside sometimes. Beautiful, creative, and inherently funny, this wonderful fractured fairy tale by Sarah Mlynowski is not to be missed!

The Adventurers Guild

The Adventurers Guild

By Zack Loran Clark, Nick Eliopulos

The Adventurers Guild is the most dangerous guild of all guilds- they guard outside the wall (There is a wall guarding the city) and fight monsters. Many adventurers die, as well. Brock, Zed, and 2 other friends get chosen to be in the guild- right when a disaster strikes. The wall has focus shards to keep monsters away, and the focus shards are expiring. They need to find the focus spell before monsters destroy the city. Will one group of friends with normal clothes and terrified looks in their face be able to save the day? Overall this is a really fun adventure book that I couldn't put down after I started reading it.

The Familiars

The Familiars

By Adam Jay Epstein, Andrew Jacobson

This book is about an alley cat named Aldwyn who has to hide from a bounty hunter, and he ends up in a store where Familiars are sold. Familiars are magical creatures who are basically side kicks to wizards. Jack, a young wizard in training, goes their and picks Aldwyn! They go to where he lives with a few other wizards in training, and their teacher. Aldwyn meets the other wizards familiars- Gilbert the tree frog, who has puddle viewing powers, and Skylar, a blue jay, who can cast illusions. He doesn't tell them he doesn't have powers. Then, one day, when he was beginning to share a powerful bond with jack, Kalstoff's cottage is attacked by the queen, and Kalstoff's dies, and Jack, Marriane, and Dalton are captured and the three familiars have to rescue them from the Queen's clutches. On their journey, they face many dangerous creatures and Aldwyn finds out that he has.............………. Read the book to find out! I recommend this to anyone who loves magic and adventure! 😜

Fairest of All (Whatever After #1)

Fairest of All (Whatever After #1)

By Sarah Mlynowski

Whatever After: Fairest of All is a pretty good book. Now, I'm not a fairy tale, happy ever after type of person, but I've got to admit, this novel was stunning. Abby has a realistic and typical teenage girl attitude, while Jonah is all for adventure. Now, Abby just wants to go home to her old house, and get away from Smithville. She hates the new place, and is totally creeped out by a mirror in the basement. But obviously, her annoying little brother always wrecks her chances of trying to maintain a normal life in the area. While "babysitting" Jonah, they end up being whisked away into the story of Snow White. At first, they have no idea what's going on and they need to find a way out. After exploring, they find an old lady with a basket of apples walking towards a pale- skinned girl with black hair. Wait a second...isn't that from a fairy tale or something? Oh yeah...it's Snow White...but she's about to get poisoned! After supposedly saving the day by not letting Snow White eat the poisoned apples, they realize their mistake. How will Snow White find her prince now? Oops. Funny, unique and eventful, this book will definitely appeal to grades 3-6+. This is a great book, and I hope you consider reading it over the summer!
