This book is awesome and a little confusing if you do not know what a colonel is. This book is about a kid called Mo(short for Moses). (A girl). Mo was lost in a hurricane when she was one and wishes to find her mother again. Three Times Lucky is the first book in series.

A hilarious Southern debut with the kind of characters you meet once in a lifetime
Rising sixth grader Miss Moses LoBeau lives in the small town of Tupelo Landing, NC, where everyone's business is fair game and no secret is sacred. She washed ashore in a hurricane eleven years ago, and she's been making waves ever since. Although Mo hopes someday to find her "upstream mother," she's found a home with the Colonel--a café owner with a forgotten past of his own--and Miss Lana, the fabulous café hostess. She will protect those she loves with every bit of her strong will and tough attitude. So when a lawman comes to town asking about a murder, Mo and her best friend, Dale Earnhardt Johnson III, set out to uncover the truth in hopes of saving the only family Mo has ever known.
Full of wisdom, humor, and grit, this timeless yarn will melt the heart of even the sternest Yankee.

i will read this book with my class
This was a great book - I loved it! The characters were like real people and could do things that you could do in real life. This was a mystery book, and the sequel was a ghost and mystery book.
The book was great - I loved it. If you read it, I'm sure you'll love it, too. The book was written very well and the characters seem like they can be real people and can do the things they do in the book. It's a mystery book and and there are other books in the series. The sequel is a ghost and mystery book.
Moses LoBeau lives in the tiny town of Tupelo Landing,( population: 148 ) where everybody knows everybody's business. Mo loves her life and is very happy with it. She likes running the cafe with Miss Lana and talking with the Colonel, and getting into mischief with her best friend Dale. But Mo's life is turned upside down when lawman Detective Joe Starr comes into town claiming there has been a murder and he is looking for the murderer. Everyone is town is shocked at the accusation especially the Colonel, he doesn't do well with higher authority ( Miss Lana says he doesn't like other people being in charge). Then when another murder happens to one of their own Mo is determined to find the killer and the Desperado Detectives where born. I loved this book because it was funny the way Mo tells the story is hilarious.
This is a book about a girl trying to find her mother. The book is very well written and it is very different from a lot of other books that I have read. It is a good different though.
this book is so fun it is the best book it is about a girl who is trying to find her mom this book is the best book i have ever read
Mo LoBeau is an orphan. Her Upstream Mother saved her life when Mo was a baby by sending her safely down the river by way of a raft during a dangerous hurricane. After further investigation, Mo's Upstream Mother hasn't been found. Now Mo lives with the Colonel, who after crashing into a tree during that same hurricane, lost his memory. The Colonel found Mo and has taken care of her ever since with Miss Lana, a caring women that takes the mother figure spot in Mo's life. Mo and her best friend Dale start the Desperado Detectives when their neighbor Mr. Jesse is murdered. Who did it? There's also another detective duo in town, Detective Joe Starr and his assistant Deputy Marla. After both the Colonel and Miss Lana go missing, the Desperado Detectives wonder if Starr and Marla can be trusted... I loved this fast-paced mystery! It was so descriptive I felt as if I was right along side Mo and Dale, solving the case. In a small town North Carolina setting, join the Desperado Detectives in this thrilling Southern tale. 5/5 stars!!
This book was not my favorite. It was a bit confusing and not very interesting. It is about a girl trying to find her birth mother. The plot wasn't the best. I don't recommend this book.
Three Times Lucky was not a book that I enjoyed. The basic plot was a 12-year old trying to solving several murders and kidnapping cases. There are few books that I can't finish, or only finish because of obligation. Three Times Lucky was one of these books. Although the plot idea was interesting, and the writing style was very good, I think that the concept could have been executed differently. This is definitely a book for young adults, not younger kids. There were many gory scenes, and hair-raising experiences. It was basically a murder mystery. Overall, I do not suggest this book. However, every person has the right to their own opinion.
