After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.
Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

it was fabolouse! i loved it and thought it was a great series starter,not to much voilence or romance or controlling king issues. This book just got you aquainted and set up the storyline while being a whole story within itself. im rreading book 2 now and went to the shops for book 3 but none of them had it.This is a must read.
I really liked this book and as soon as I finished it I immediately went to the library to get the next in the series. I finished the second book within a day and am actually in the library right now borrowingthe third. The only criticism I have is that I'd like to see more assassin action going on. More of slowing what the main characters 'amazing' skills are. The romance was alright and I'm glad she didn't give up everything for the 'oh so handsome guy' although romance wasn't what I was looking for in this book. Anyway amazing book. Would recommend I can't wait to read the rest o f the series
I honestly loved this book and series. Personally I am not a huge fan of romance, however I do not think that any of the romance in this series is that bad. I think that kids of all ages would be fine with the book, as they are seeing the same level of romance, violence etc in the real world and in movies/video games. Overall good book with a good story line and strong characters. I hope this helped anyone thinking of reading the series.

After reading a review by fany13 on DogoBooks, I finally managed to read this fantastic Young Adult book by Sarah J. Maas. I admit that at first I hesitated to read it-- Celaena seemed evil to me. How could the author possibly justify the actions of the most notorious assassin of Adarlan? I opened the book cover with completely cynical eyes, expecting to hate the main character. At first, I did. She was narcissistic, haughty, ruthless-- or so I thought. As I read on, I discovered that Celaena was one of--if not the most--incredible, inspiring, and 3-Dimensional characters that I’ve ever encountered in literature. Sarah J. Maas spins an incredibly intricate web in “The Throne of Glass”, which you don’t want to miss. I can confidently rate this book five stars. Lovers of Rick Riordan, Brandon Mull, Marie Lu, and Veronica Roth will enjoy this thrill of a read!

After hearing about how excellently crafted the book Throne of Glass was from a review on DOGOnews, I was instantly intrigued and I decided to read it. When I first began, I got the feeling that it was going to morph into a rip-off of The Hunger Games, but I was dead wrong. In fact, I ended up enjoying it more than any of the other books in The Hunger Games series. Celeana Sardothien is a slave in the salt mines of Endovier, but she wasn't always. Once, she was an assassin. Not just any old assassin, but Adarlan's Assassin, a ruthless killer, feared by all in the land of Erilea. Her torturous, horrible life as a slave is forever changed when she is invited/forced to go through a series of Tests against other scum to become the King's Champion. But all is not as it seems when competitors are mysteriously found dead, murdered grotesquely. She is ordered to root out and destroy the evil-before it destroys her and her only chance at freedom. Throne of Glass was an absolute page-turner, with superb character development, and well-orchestrated romances and friendships, and best of all, villains that are oh-so-despicable. I loved how Throne of Glass shifted in points of view, forging an even deeper and intriguing plot. You'll sympathize with the cold-blooded assassin, understand the haughty prince, and the pity the stone-faced Captain of the guard. I couldn't tear myself from this masterpiece and cannot wait to continue it in the next books. I recommend to all fantasy and adventure lovers who want a good book to curl up to for hours.
I really liked this book and would recommend it but it has some very inappropriate scenes in it. I would not let anyone under 10 years of age read this without parent guidance or supervision. Hope this helps!
