Another fantastic book! The Recruits are back and they are starting 7th grade! Gavin finally gets to be on the boys football team as well as Scott, as the Stats Man, but it doesn't seem to be going very well. The coach is ignoring them, and instead, paying attention to two big 8th graders who are their sons. Natalie has planned to find out why Mrs. Woods and Mrs. Magenta don't speak to each other anymore. After all, Mrs. Magenta is Mrs. Woods daughter. Randi got into a special elite gymnast camp (yay!) and while there, discovers a family secret and a new family member. Trevor's brother, Brian, is out of the house, but ever since, his family has been having some problems. Don't get him wrong, he loves having his big brother bully out of the house, but when he learns what's going on with him, he may be able to fix it. The Recruits have another year filled with tears, laughter, and shock. Happy reading!
The Perfect Secret (The Perfect Score Series)
By Rob Buyea
From the beloved author of Because of Mr. Terupt comes the sequel to The Perfect Score, about a lovable group of students at Lake View Middle School and the rewards and challenges of seventh grade.
These students are in for a year of secrets, discoveries, and kid power!
GAVIN finally joins the football team--a dream come true!--but Coach Holmes refuses to play him for reasons that also threaten to tear Gavin's family apart. When RANDI attends an elite gymnastics camp, she uncovers a startling family connection. SCOTT starts researching an article for the school newspaper and stumbles right into a hornet's nest of lies. With his loser older brother, Brian, out of the house, TREVOR's life is loads better--until he realizes that only he can save Brian from getting into deep trouble. NATALIE's top goals: (1) find out why Mrs. Woods and Mrs. Magenta no longer speak to each other--a mission shared by all the kids--and (2) teach a certain someone an important life skill without anyone knowing. It's tough keeping secrets. And tougher still to deal with the fallout when secrets spill out.

I really wanna read it
This is the second book in the Perfect Score series, and it was just as good as the first book, which is not the case in most series. It is in the perspectives of the Recruits again, and they are going on a whole new adventure. You might remember from the first book that the Recruits found out that Mrs. Magenta and Mrs. Woods were related. While keeping their knowledge a secret, they are trying to mend the broken relationship, but it turns out to be harder than they thought. On top of that one secret, the Recruits are keeping secrets from each other because 7th grade isn't what they thought it would be, it is a big giant rollercoaster that they didn't agree to ride on. Randi finds a brother she never knew she had at a gymnastics camp, Gavin and Scott are having trouble with their football coach, Trevor is having family trust issues even though his brother finally got out of the house, and Natalie is trying to keep everyone together . As the Recruits battle through problems they didn't know even existed, they realize their need for each other and come out on top just in time for Christmas. This is a very lovable book that can be very funny but still has a good message. The multiple perspectives show you every view on the events that happen throughout the story. I cannot wait to read the third book and would recommend this series to middle schoolers.
