For fans of Diary of the Wimpy Kid or Tom Gates series... this book is for you! I really liked how everything played out at the end... This may seem like your tale of a middle schooler... and you're a 100% right... but there are ACTION.... SUSPENSE...which gives it a more exciting way to read this book... Although it has a boy perspective, it's totally fine, and I understood that all boys act the way they act... well maybe not... but most boys... Meet Charlie Joe Jackson, he thinks reading is redundant and he does not enjoy it... not even one little bit... I REPEAT he thinks reading is redundant and he does not enjoy it... not even one little bit... Okay to be honest... this is DOGObooks here... and we are here to write reviews about amazing books and movies, give our input about the news, and meet amazing people here... .So I thought it is pretty ironic while I am typing my reviews... but this story was hilarious.. and for some of you readers out there...it's pretty ridiculous and quirky... I am an avid reader myself, so all these tips that Charlie gave in the beginning of the chapter... were pretty funny... So it starts off with Charlie's friend, Timmy, won't write any more book reports.. Now Charlie Joe is in trouble... he has to find a person to write his reviews for him... or Plan B... he has to do it!!! This middle school adventure was pretty hilarious.. With cartoonish illustration... this story made my day... So for those who do not like reading... this book is for you... to just people who want to have something to laugh and smile.. this books is totally for you! Enjoy! :D

Charlie Joe Jackson may be the most reluctant reader ever born. And so far, he's managed to get through life without ever reading an entire book from cover to cover. But now that he's in middle school, avoiding reading isn't as easy as it used to be. And when his friend Timmy McGibney decides that he's tired of covering for him, Charlie Joe finds himself resorting to desperate measures to keep his perfect record intact.
Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Not Reading by Tommy Greenwald is the hilarious story of an avid non-reader and the extreme lengths to which he'll go to get out of reading a book.

: ) nice book!
This was one of my favorite books because it can relate to me.I don't mind reading, I'm just not a fan of reading. I also liked it because it was funny. Also all of it made sense and there weren't parts that didn't make sense.
This book was the best! Most parents look at the cover and disapprove. But, you should never judge a book by its cover. This book has more than tips for not reading, it has a story, too. This book is about a kid named Charlie Joe who hates reading and tries to find a way out of it.
Charlie Joe Jackson hates reading, and he got out of it. Until the 6th grade. He ends up having challenges that require him to read. His friend, Timmy, stopped helping him with the school assignments that require him to read. He tries to lean on his friend Jake, but Jake complies for a short time. Then, a school project comes up. Charlie Joe decides to do his report on middle school cliques. He shows the school that Hannah, a friend who is really likable and kind, and Jake, his friend nerd, can actually start dating each other and liking each other. That breaks his school's usual order. Instead of jocks with jocks and nerds with nerds, jocks and nerds come together. But sadly, Charlie Joe doesn't land on top in the end. Jake gets so excited about how Charlie Joe got him Hannah, he spills the beans on how Charlie Joe never read his books. Charlie Joe gets a choice at his parent-teacher meeting: he reads and 10 book reports and writes 10 book reports, or he writes a whole book. He chooses the latter. On a personal note: I admire how Tom Greenwald wrote a book about a kid who hates books.
This book is simply ridiculous. It is a book about a kid who disdains reading above all else. He throws in tips and hints about how to avoid reading, but there is never a satisfactory answer to why he dislikes reading so much. I would not recommend this book to anyone, no matter how bored they might happen to be.
The book is awsome. read it. Charlie is lazy.
A hilarious book! Most adults wouldn't like the title of the book, but it is a very good book. It's funny and ties together very well. I would recommend this to and reading-hater!
This book was pretty goood! It is about charlie, who actually cant read! He tr ies to kee p it a secret though! I would reccomend
Charlie Joe Jackson has a purpose in life-avoid reading a book cover to cover. So far he has been successful in his purpose. He had managed to make several deals with one of his friends so that he read to the minimum-not even 3 chapters. But when his secret deal is discovered by his parents will he lose his streak. And the big end of the year book project is coming up. Will Charlie Joe Jackson survive? This is a story about a middle-school boy who detests reading. This is a good book for younger kids and people who detest reading because it has an interesting plot line and I think they will actually like this book because it is really easy reading. I do not recommend this book to older kids for the same reason.
