This Newbery Medal winner that has a fantastic puzzle at its heart has been called “smart and mesmerizing,” (The New York Times), “superb” (The Wall Street Journal), and “incandescent” (The Washington Post).

When Miranda starts receiving mysterious notes, she doesn’t know what to do.

The notes tell her that she must write a letter, a true story, and that she can’t share her mission with anyone—not even her best friend, Sal.

It would be easy to ignore the strange messages, except that whoever is leaving them has an uncanny ability to predict the future. If that’s the case, then Miranda has an even bigger problem—because the notes tell her that someone is going to die, and she might be too late to stop it.

Miranda used to be best friends with Sal, but something happened and now Sal doesn't talk to Miranda at all. Instead of being lonely, Miranda makes friends with a girl named Annemarie and a boy named Colin. The three of them decide to try to get jobs at a nearby sandwich shop. Meanwhile, Sal still isn't talking to Miranda and Miranda is getting these notes. In different, seemingly random places warning her about things and giving her clues, but to what? And who is writing these mysterious notes? I loved this book because it's constantly exciting and intriguing. I totally recommend it to people who like mysteries!

I got like 2 quarters in and then stopped, it is slow moving and boring.

One of my best friends just finished reading this book. She said it was amazing and she wouldn't stop talking about it. so she kept bothering me and telling me to read it so I decided I would give it a try me. I haven't read it yet since I'm in the middle of reading a book called "The War That saved My Life" (which is a really good book btw) but where not here to talk about that. Anyways I'm really looking forward to reading this book my friend said it was kinda like mystery and thats one of my favorite genres. All I know about it is it has mysterious letters and the girls friend goes missing, but I'm so excited to read it I can't wait!

I really love this book because Rebecca Stead writes about real things, not just realistic fiction books that are, well, just realistic. And her characters have amazing personalities, which I really like because it helps me understand the story a lot more. And also, her books are pretty long, which is good.

This book is awesome and emotional . It is about a 6th grade girl named Miranda . Miranda used to be best friends with a boy named Sal . One day , Sal got punched and shut Miranda out . Thsi book included time travel.

This book is about a girl named Miranda who is getting notes from a random guy. Her friend ( or used to be) Sal got punched by a boy named Marcus. In Miranda's town some things are weird: a guy who Miranda calls the laughing man. He keeps kicking the road over and over again and Miranda always sees him in the corner day after day and he also sleeps under a mailbox. There is also a naked man running around in town. One day, Marcus wanted to apoligize to Sal for punching him. But Sal got scared and started running away. Sal was too busy running away he ran into the road and there was a truck with a man who had NO IDEA Sal was there. Miranda though SAL IS GOING TO DIE!!!!!. But he didn't. All because the laughing man appeared on the road and kicked Sal out of the way and got hit and died. Miranda saw this shoe and fell. She woke up undera mailbox with 4 words stacked on to of each other. They were book, box, pocket, shoe. She knew the first note that was given to her was in a book. The second on was in a box. The third one was in her pocket coat and the last one could be in that shoe? She picked the shoe up and saw the last note. It was telling her to deliver a letter ( or a story) to Marcus. She realized that the laughing man was Marcus. Or when he's old of course. She also realized - you are dead. Miranda was thinking that time travel was impossible. But it was possible. If the laughing man was Marcus he could've built a time machine and go back in time to save Sal. The naked man running in town- that was Marcus too. PRACTICING. At the end Miranda was going to deliver the letter to Marcus - just as the note said too.

My favorite book LOVE!!!!
