Welcome to the story of Despereaux Tilling, a mouse who is in love with music, stories, and a princess named Pea. It is also the story of a rat called Roscuro, who lives in the darkness and covets a world filled with light. And it is the story of Miggery Sow, a slow-witted serving girl who harbors a simple, impossible wish. These three characters are about to embark on a journey that will lead them down into a horrible dungeon, up into a glittering castle, and, ultimately, into each other's lives. What happens then? As Kate DiCamillo would say: Reader, it is your destiny to find out.
With black-and-white illustrations and a refreshed cover by Timothy Basil Ering.

But great book because it is about his journy but gets in some troble a lot off troble he was soppsto get his head choped off because his family did not like him!!!!!!!! Like how could they hate him? He is so determented and likes pichers and can read!!!!! Find out he gets through a hard and long journy!
I love this book. I read it as a book and also saw it in the movie, and the details were different, but it was absolutely amazing!
Despereaux is much longer than MJET, but because of that, there are more back stories that wonderfully tie together at the end. The back story of Miggery Sow is so touching. If you've seen the movie, do yourself a favor and read the novel too.
This is a great book because it pulls you in and it's extremely detailed.
this book is really different from the movie i don't like either of them (too cunfuzing)
I agree brdu it was way too confusing and totally different from the book by a long shot!!!
