Holy unanticipated occurrences! A cynic meets an unlikely superhero in a genre-breaking new novel by master storyteller Kate DiCamillo.

It begins, as the best superhero stories do, with a tragic accident that has unexpected consequences. The squirrel never saw the vacuum cleaner coming, but self-described cynic Flora Belle Buckman, who has read every issue of the comic book Terrible Things Can Happen to You!, is just the right person to step in and save him. What neither can predict is that Ulysses (the squirrel) has been born anew, with powers of strength, flight, and misspelled poetry — and that Flora will be changed too, as she discovers the possibility of hope and the promise of a capacious heart. From #1 New York Times best-selling author Kate DiCamillo comes a laugh-out-loud story filled with eccentric, endearing characters and featuring an exciting new format — a novel interspersed with comic-style graphic sequences and full-page illustrations, all rendered in black-and-white by up-and-coming artist K. G. Campbell.

this is a amazing i mean amazing book it is emotional but yet funny and touching in every way you can think of you need to read this book

Flora and Ulysses is an easy book to read, but it is as exciting as any other book. This book makes you lean in, and keep reading. Flora describes herself as a cynic, not entirely understanding what that means in the beginning of the book. She is tired of living in her Mom's house, and only seeing her Dad once in awhile. She needs a story. A break. A new start. Ulysses is that new start. Flora watches the squirrel get sucked up in a vacuum, and survive! She dreams and wishes that Ulysses, named after the vacuum that sucked him up, has superpowers, and can be the superhero from her books. This book is a classic superhero comic, only better. This book takes you on an adventure that you will never in your lifetime, forget.

This is a really good book it has little comics which I think is cool and the author is one of my faves the book is basically about this girl who really likes comics but her mom does not like her reading comics because she thinks it messes with her brain her mom writes romance novels and one day day when shes looking out the window she sees her neighbor vacum up a squirrel and flora runs down and she does cpr and the squirrel is still alive but the squirrel has super powers and flora tries to make the squirrel ulysses a superhero and tries to fight crime i really suggest that you read it you are never to old for this because it has a adventure, a little comedy, and a few live hacks and lessons

Really good book.

Flora and Ulysses is a fun story for anyone to enjoy! Flora, a self-proposed cynic, is living in a boring world. No comic books. No friends. No adventure. So, naturally, when a squirrel is vacuumed up, she gets interested. The squirrel, which Flora named Ulysses, seemed to acquire supernatural powers, such as becoming super strong, typing poetry, and of course -- being really hungry. Very hungry. They set off on a hilarious, comic book style adventure to save Ulysses from the evil Darkness of 10,000 hands -- Flora's own mom, and write poetry along the way. And eat a giant donut. This book has no age limits, for the sheer amount of awesomeness and fun no one can resist!

You are so right it is for any age

True there is no age limit for this book

just started looks pretty cool it about a cynic,a person that doesn't like a lot of things, it funny and in the beginning a SQUIRREL ALMOST GETS VACUUMED HAHA lol can't wait

It is amazing! It isn't limited to age or mind set. Anyone can read this book and become interested in what Flora is seeing or what Ulysess is thinking! It honestly is one of the best books I've ever read and I would recommend this to anyone.

This book is AWESOME and i think it had a lot of humor. I really enjoyed the comics and how it can blend with the text. I thought it was cool how Ulysses got named after the vacume cleaner that gave him super powers.

I liked this book because it was a mix of pictures and writing. I like how the book has super hero. I like how the book had cute pets!

I thought this book was cute and really funny
