Following the life-altering events at the conclusion of The Unwanteds, the stark world of Quill and the magical haven of Artimé are now home to whoever wants to live there, whether they are Wanteds, Unwanteds, or Necessaries.
In Artimé, Alex Stowe and his friends continue to hone their artistic magical spells while welcoming newcomers, wondering how long this peace between Quill and Artimé will last. Alex is stunned when Mr. Today comes to him with a very special request—one Alex questions his readiness for, until circumstances offer a dramatic answer.
And back in Quill, Aaron Stowe, Alex’s twin, faces a very different path. Devastated by his loss of status after Justine’s defeat and seething with rage toward Alex, Aaron is stealthily planning his revenge and return to power.
Alex and Aaron’s separate stories proceed with suspenseful pacing, colliding in a stunning climax that elevates sibling rivalry to epic proportions and leaves the fate of both worlds hanging in the balance.

favorite series EVER
Rather than give a summary of the book, my review focuses on the appropriateness, and enjoyment for a Middle Grader (who the audience is intended to be). EXCELLENT choice for middle graders. The character development isn't as strong as in the first book, but since the bulk of the characters are the same, that isn't really necessary if you've read #1 already (which I STRONGLY recommend you do). For the new characters, I think she does their character development justice. There are characters that you'll love, and characters that you'll truly despise. For the most part characters behave and talk the way we've come to expect them too...with some fun twists. I enjoyed this book even more than the first, and the first was excellent. Island of Silence in general I both think is more "exciting." Just a LOT Of stuff going, and you don't want to miss any of it. It's a bit "heavier" than the first as well, dealing with the trials and experiences of specific characters. But the book rounds out nicely with an awesome cliff hanger that made me very frustrated that I couldn't just read the next book. I love the values and traits that Lisa McMann expresses in this series. Characters grow. Take responsibility. Work as a team. Bind friendships. Deal with loss. There is a strong sense of community. Highly recommend this great book and series.
This is such a good book I like everything about it besides the part where (spoiler alert) Mr.Today died. He could have used his glass spell to protect himself instead of the highlighter. 9/10
Unwanted series is always fun
Alex is back, better than ever! Artime won the war against Quill but just because they won doesn't mean it's over. Quill now has a new leader but the people of Quill are unhappy with all the new changes. Aaron got expelled from the University of Wanted's and has nowhere to go. While on the streets Aaron meets Rattrap and they form an alliance together and their plan is to wipe out Artime and take over Quill. Artime gets multiple surprise attacks and everything then, starts to crumble. Mr. Today get multiple 'Heart Attacks' and dies, so all his creations die with him, Claire Morning gets kidnapped, and Aaron takes over. The worst part is that Artime is gone. Now Alex struggles because he is now in charge of all the Unwanteds, not to mention 2 of his friends are missing on an island. What is he going to do?
Aaron wants power. Alex wants answers. Quill and Artime are both in danger. When Mr. Today offers Alex the job of being in charge of Artime when he takes a holiday- Alex is scared. Sure, Mr. Today has faith in him- but managing Artime? It seems that Mr. Today doesn't just mean Alex taking over for the week...but maybe his whole life. Will Alex decline or accept the offer? Meanwhile in Quill, life isn't going as perfect as before. High Priest Haulki has a different idea of living a normal life- and Alex is going to make the power like it was before- even if it means killing a bunch of innocent people. And Meagan, Samheed, and Lani haven't been found.. a thorny necklace and two orange eyed mute people might just be what they need to save the trio. Full of adventure and sorrow, Lisa McMann does it again, by making you tell yourself, "just one more chapter"! Happy reading!
This is the second book in the Unwanteds series. Alex and his new friends, Crow and Sky, the orange-eyed, are part of something they never wanted. They have to defeat the Queen so the orange-eyed people get their voices back. Can they do it? I loved this book so much, and I can't wait to read the other reviews. I hope you guys like this book as much as I do.
The perfect second book to an amazing series! If you are looking for a great way to pass your time read this book!! better yet, read the entire series! This book/series is a MUST HAVE!!!
